A meaningful alternative to traditional photography.
Rather than posing for staged portraits, we encourage you to be
spontaneous and free to enjoy your
Wedding, Birthday, Reunion, or A Day in the Life
with your loved ones.
Our documentary style approach lets us unobtrusively capture the genuine interactions and emotions that unfold naturally, making everyone feel at ease. The best part is you’ll end up with beautiful, authentic images that tell your story.
Andrew and Mitzi were the best photographers that we could have asked for to capture our wedding day. Everyone at the wedding raved about how great they were, which allowed my family/friends the freedom to just enjoy the evening. Would recommend over & over!
I was nervous leading up to the session but was assured it was going to be laid back, fun and not to worry...boy were they right! Our family had a blast during our session! We didn’t feel like we were awkwardly posing in scenes that just weren’t us. Everything about the session was great and the resulting photos were even better! The photos truly capture who we are as a family and I will treasure them for decades to come!
Not comfortable in front of a camera or prefer to stay out of the spotlight?
Documentary photography just might be what you are looking for.
But to be sure, we always schedule a casual, no-pressure meet up, in-person, by phone, or video chat to make sure our services are right for you.
What is Documentary Photography Exactly
One of my favorite photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson coined the phrase ‘the decisive moment’, a moment in time (not a millisecond before or after) that would capture an image and give it true meaning.
In the 19th century, it became one of the pre-eminent ways to document life across the world.
Our approach is similar to photojournalism, only our assignment is to encapsulate the family dynamic. It is more than candid photography we are invested in the life of our subjects and through our shared experiences we create something special. Moments in life that become more meaningful as time goes on.
What is Documentary Photography
Weddings
Every wedding needs a photographer but not every photographer is right for your wedding.
Our couples trust us to capture the unique story of their wedding day as it unfolds, with all of it's beautiful imperfections.
We are there, not to overwhelm you with photos but be along side you throughout the day while you enjoy the company of your loved ones capturing your smiles, laughter and tears.
Family Documentary
Our family documentary sessions are geared towards slowing down and enjoying family time. It is not about staged portraits and forced smiles.
We go on outings together, we play at home or dance in the rain, forgetting that a camera is present.
Our goal is to vibe together so you and your loved ones feel comfortable and free to be your true selves.
